Cynthia Suzanne Sauer was born and raised in Long Island, New York, and has worked for most of her life in the field of education. She enjoys teaching students from diverse backgrounds and is inspired by their willingness to seek their own voice.
Cynthia is a Fulbright Exchange Fellow and taught at the Antwerp International school in Belgium, teaching the International Baccalaureate and researching WWI and WWII landscape memorials. Using that experience, she created a documentary, Remembrance and Reconciliation, based on Carl Sandburg’s poem, “Grass.” She also contributed to the iBook, Bringing the Great War Home, produced by the University of North Carolina, Virginia Tech, and The American Battle Monuments commission.
Cynthia was also a ranked junior on the tennis circuit, played in college, and was a teaching pro for over a decade. She is a certified professional with the Professional Tennis Registry (the preeminent international tennis coaching organization), and a member of the United States Tennis Association. Her passion for the sport has led Cynthia to work in media services for the Connecticut Open, the Winston Salem Open, and the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, where she now lives.
Cynthia holds degrees from the University of Tennessee and Columbia University, and is a member of the Palm Springs Writers Guild. She is also an avid hiker, bicyclist and photographer, and serves as a volunteer for the Disabled American Veterans. She loves Belgian chocolates and coffee ice cream.
